0.THIS SOFTWARE DOES ONLY WORK (IF IT DOES) WITH THE SUN JAVA J2SE 5.0 and J2SE 5.0 JRE FOR WINDOWS AND LINUX AND WITH APPLE JDK 1.4.2 UPDATE PLUS PLUMSTONE PROJECT JAR and higher ! THIS SOFTWARE DOES NOT INSTALL ANYTHING OBSCURE ONTO YOUR COMPUTER OR SOMETHING STRANGE (IN YOUR REGISTRY IF YOU ARE A WINDOWS USER) YOU ONLY HAVE THE JAR FILE. IF YOU WANT TO RIP OFF DELETE THE FILE AND THE KFUENF SOFTWARE IS NO LONGER ON YOUR COMPUTER. Dont ask me about installing SUN Java on a Windows xp,w2k or Linux or Mac machine goto http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp for Linux or Windows and Apple users can have look at (sorry i don't know more about that) http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/javaupdate142.html Get the version i developed it with and you only need to install the JRE version on your computer. This software will definitely not work on a Windows95 or Windows3.11 distribution. The Windows versions this software is tested with are only Windows98SE SUN JAVA jre1.4.2 or jdk1.4.2 and WindowsXP(SP1) SUN JAVA J2SE 5.0 and J2SE 5.0 JRE If you do have another Windows version, don't ask me. The Linux version is tested on a Redhat 9 distribution with SUN JAVA jre1.4.2 or jdk1.4.2 and SUN JAVA J2SE 5.0 and J2SE 5.0 JRE which is not installed with RPM but installed with the linux bin file, if you are a linux geek you should know something about it, if you do not do so, use the Windows version instead. DO NOT ask me about getting your Linux midi device going, goto the linux midi websites http://linux-sound.org/ or ask someone who knows about getting your midi device work. Please give me a hint, if it is working on other than the tested versions. If you have suggestions or bug reports you can email me using english or german language using the feedback form at www.kfuenf.org or via email: developer at kfuenf dot org If there is someone out there who has successfully run it on a MAC please contact me! BEWARE! Sometimes there are some problems with the transmission from/to Kawai K5 then the Midi Sysex functions will not work correctly, you can suffer from that by closing the application or pressing the cancel button if you are running a bank transmission and try to restart the transmission again, but sometimes that doesn't help. This librarian does not have any cute and nice questions like: You have not stored your work, do you want to quit? Please press [yes] [may be] [i am not sure] [what are you doing] ..... in those tiny little dialog boxes! So at the moment if you leave a frame without having saved, the data is lost. It is possible that the beta version will have this feature, so i'll see. If something is going completely wrong or misbehaving sometimes it helps to delete the kfuenf.properties file especially if you it run with USB MIDI Devices. If an error occurs your messages to help me fixing bugs are welcome. The installation is easy: 1. Install SUN JAVA J2SE 5.0 JRE from: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp or higher. 2. download the kfuenfccontrol06.jar and store it into an empty directory and with linux the linuxdevices file 3. doubleclick the kfuenfccontrol06.jar (with windows) or open a commandline terminal and enter java -jar kfuenfccontrol06.jar (with Linux this is the best way). 4. now the Kfuenf Control should launch. 5. first you should open the Midi->Settings Dialog and choose the input/output directory and the Midi Settings. Then save if you want to. 6. To use the communication to the Kawai K5 select Midi->Open Midi Devices. This is a librarian release. Things should be possible with this release 0.6 - 041215: Create, manipulate, load and save single libraries, multi and single banks/patches. Sending and receiving selected patches or complete banks. Renaming patches. Simple data comparison of patches. Viewing patches data. Viewing data in edit mode a.s.o. Things that should come out at the end of 2005 with next release V0.7: Editing patches Qualified patch comparison Combining single patch to form a multi patch With this release you can use the manual send functionality of the Kawai K5 on the midi display page, but the patches will only be stored, if the correct corresponding intern/extern single/multi bank patch window is open and topped, if it not opened it is possible that the Kfuenf Control does not work properly! Normally it is more convenient to use the request function of the Kfuenf Control. The librarian is developed for a simple purpose, collecting patches from various sources and making them downloadable for all Kawai K5 users all over the world. So hopefully, it leads to a K5 patches archive at the download area of kfuenf.org. It contains some modified source code from the DumpReceiver.java by jsresource.org and a strongly modified version of the MidiSynth.java example from Sun for implementing the midikeyboard function. I by myself do not invest much time in designing or developing patches, but i will enhance the librarian with patch editing function for easier usability for others to do that. So if it is possible just send me your patches, please use the save options of the Kfuenf Control librarian. Do pack them in tgz or zip format and at the moment email me at developer at kfuenf dot org If the patches are new and different and i have time to take a look at them i will publish them with the name of the creator. The patches you send me will automatically go to public license for free publishing. So only send patches that you want to publish free for free. Watch out, at the moment i cannot support any other format than the simple dump format from the Kfuenf Control librarian! Please dont send the original factory sounds to me, you can download them on the Kawai site. Next to come is a good comparison functionality of the librarian, showing how much two patches differ.
